The executive committee looks for attributes in candidates such as leadership, innovation, and activities that support the region. “Larry was an easy choice because of his involvement in many community organizations and because of the remarkable things he’s done at Daman, especially his involvement in continuous improvement,” said Richard Kolbe, Dean – Judd Leighton School of Business and Economics.
Davis was integral in the development of Daman’s continuous improvement culture in the fluid power industry over 40 years ago. He has focused on evolving practiced lean manufacturing principles into being a lead promoter of CI in advanced manufacturing and marketing concepts.
Throughout his career, he has been active in a wide range of community services and business organizations. Currently, he participates as a Career & Success Academy Trustee, NFPA Board member, and the St. Joseph County Chamber Education committee. He is also involved in Rise Up Board, Youth Services Board, Ivy Tech Community College Trustee, Start Up Moxie Board, and is a student mentor.
His latest endeavor is custom handmade forged knives. A seed planted in 7th-grade metal shop has finally become a reality.
Congratulations Larry Davis on your well-deserved award!
